Research Support Unit

All publicly funded research activity is supported by the Research Support Unit, part of Research and Knowledge Transfer Support. Publicly funded research activity is a core element of the University's activities.

The University of Bradford is committed to the support and development of research of international excellence. It is also committed to maximising the economic and social benefits of such research, with a strong focus on the regeneration of the city and region.

The University's research strategy is focused upon:

  • supporting and growing research of international quality in focussed areas;
  • contributing regionally to wealth creation, social cohesion and the quality of life through the exploitation and application of industrially and socially relevant high quality research, and
  • developing the research and innovation skills of students and staff, and using these as a resource.

The research priorities are defined by:

  • successive RAE scores;
  • institutional academic priorities;
  • regional research priorities (e.g., Yorkshire Forward, NHS, Urban Regeneration Company, etc.), and
  • national and international research priorities (e.g., UKRC, Research Councils, Charities, European Union, etc.).
