After the midnight oil, the examinations and the anxiety, the elation of graduation marks a beginning of a new relationship between the former student and the University.
Wherever they go, and whatever they do, the University remains keenly interested in the progress of its graduates, who can now be found in virtually every walk of life and country in the world.
The Alumni Office maintains contact with over 40,000 graduates. Reunions are very popular and there is a fast developing list of overseas branches of the alumni, who hold reunions abroad.
"Some of my abiding memories of my time at Bradford are of the vibrant city life. There was always a lot going on, and after growing up in Norfolk it was a really different experience. There were lots of different cultures and people to meet - I really enjoyed it.
It was a brilliant place to be a student, partly because it is so much cheaper than anywhere else. It was also really good being so close to the Dales. I used to go up to Skipton and Saltaire quite regularly."
Jon McGregor graduated from the University with a degree in Media Technology
and Production. His first novel If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things, was
long-listed for the 2002 MAN Booker Prize.
