Monthly Update - April 2011

Work on the project is nearing completion, and the building is starting to take shape inside and out. The external cladding which is the landmark statement of the building continues to progress. This will provide a striking entrance to the campus and to the School itself. Rooms are being decorated and the flooring works have commenced to toilet and kitchenette areas.

Inside, the radiation bunker decoration and electrical works are nearly complete, ahead of the installation of the new X-ray machine in late May. The cladding on the fourth floor extension is also nearly complete, with mechanical services and a new raised access floor being installed.  Progress throughout the floor remains constant, with more and more decorators on site and finishes being applied, which are bringing the building to life.

The heating system installation is nearing completion throughout the building, with the final connection onto the district heating networks to be completed late May. Tours of the sample office have been a success, with staff being able to see first-hand a finished office within the building itself. This has enabled a member of the Estates team to explain the sustainable features incorporated within the construction, which make the building as efficient as possible.
