The building is entering the final phase, in terms of its completion. It will be water tight by the end of May meaning that the final finishes, decoration and joinery works can progress at speed.
The fixed furniture items, reception counters, seating, laptop bars etc have already been installed, together with cupboards and sinks to the specialist teaching areas. The new ceiling mounted hoist in the clinical skills room has been installed, along with medical bed head trunking, giving these areas a real sense of how they will look once they are fully completed.
Carpeting works continue throughout the existing building and through to the Executive Suite on level three. Door installations to all areas will be completed by early June, with the underfloor heating and sprung wooden floor to the movement lab being installed.
Externally the works to the rear courtyard are progressing well, with the delivery access formed, bike shelter installed and tarmac resurfacing due to take place in early June.
To the front of the building, the step access from the front of Horton D has been created, together with the disabled car parking spaces by the entrance. The reinstatement works to the Peace Garden have commenced, with temporary surfacing being removed to reinstate this area.
The external works taking place during June will be visible to all and will help everyone to envisage how this building will knit into City Campus life.
