Green Impact

Green Impact Logo The University of Bradford is one of twenty two universities nationwide which has signed up to take part in the 'Green Impact' scheme. 'Green Impact' is a national environmental accreditation scheme which aims to engage staff and students in sustainable activities across the campus.

The School of Health Studies is currently working towards the scheme's Bronze Award which requires students and staff to demonstrate sustainable activity taking place across the School. To achieve this award, the School will be assessed under a number of criteria.

The scheme encourages students and staff to implement measures to reduce waste, for example printing double sided wherever possible and shutting down computer equipment when not in use. Recycling also forms a substantial part of the scheme, with facilities for this available throughout the School.

'Green Impact' also encourages universities to think about sustainable activities that help charitable organisations. The School will shortly be nominating a charity that it will be supporting over the coming months. There are also plans to install facilities within the School to collect postage stamps, mobile phones and glasses to be donated to charity.

The School of Health Studies hopes to achieve the Bronze award by early summer 2010 and to work towards further awards when it moves to its new site in autumn 2011.
