New to Nursing / Pre-Registration Nursing

For students wishing to become a qualified nurse we offer the BSc (Hons) Nursing. This qualification allows you to practice as a nurse and to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Please click on the course link above to find out about the course.     

Qualification

BSc (Hons) Nursing - (Adult/Child/Mental Health)

Attendance  Full time
Interview  Includes group discussion and interview, numeracy and literacy test
Frequency and Duration  3 years 45 weeks per year - course starts September each year
Employment Prospects  82% of 2010 graduates found employment within 6 months of graduating
Clinical Placements   Requires shift work. Usually undertaken within a local trust.

Funding

Fees are not payable for students on NHS funded courses who meet residency criteria. If you are studying on a BSc (Hons) Nursing course you will  also be eligible for a  non means tested grant of £1000 and a means tested bursary each year. There are also additional allowances available for dependents. You will also be able to apply for a reduced student loan.
