Student Life at Bradford

Bradford at Night

Although there are around 11,000 students at The University of Bradford, it is a close knit community where everyone can find a connection through a friend of a friend. We welcome students from over 110 nations.

Virtually everything on campus is within walking distance, and with around £75 million invested in an ambitious Estates project, as an undergraduate student you will have access to some inspirational, vibrant open spaces and state of the art facilities. The University is only a ten minute walk from the city centre.

Accommodation

A unique student village is currently being created, ready for its first ever residents in September 2011.

The Green is a new £40million purpose built accommodation village in the heart of the city campus.

This will be a chance to live in a groundbreaking scheme which is a blueprint for eco-friendly living. It aims to be the first BREAAM 'Outstanding' student accommodation in the country - the highest accredited award for sustainable building development and operation.

Not only will the village be the most sustainable development in the country the design has incorporated a wide range of modern high quality internal and external features and finishes.

Made up of townhouses and apartments, with 1,026 bedrooms in total, The Green has been designed around a village concept with a real community feel. It is set in beautiful landscape gardens, with a biodiversity pond water feature in its heart and places to relax and socialise.

The development will provide high quality accommodation with a modern and fresh design, with both ensuite and shared bathroom accommodation available. With being located in the heart of the University's City Campus, your lectures will be just a short stroll away.

If you feel that halls are not for you, Bradford has a wide range of student accommodation available. For help and advice with this, please contact Unipol - www.unipol.org.uk/bradford

Social Activities

With the Student's Union on campus and over 80 societies and sports clubs to join, from scuba diving to Ultimate Frisbee, there is always something to do. Our Students' Union building Student Central was totally refurbished for September 2010. We also have three arts venues on campus and a  'Unique'.

There is also plenty to get involved in off campus. One of the 10 largest cities in Britain (with a population of over 450,000), Bradford is small enough to be friendly and familiar, but large enough to have the facilities of a thriving modern centre. It also has excellent transport links with the rest of the country and a short journey will take you into beautiful rolling countryside. Affordable

Bradford is a great place to live if you're on a tight budget and according to The Times Good University Guide, it is still recognised as the least expensive place for students to live in the UK.

On a very limited budget you can see original David Hockney paintings at the 1853 Gallery, browse around the shops at Salts Mill, or battle alien starships in the flight simulator at the National Media Museum.
