What is Enrolment?
Enrolment is the formal three part process that you are required to go through before becoming a student of the University of Bradford. After enrolment, you will receive your student card and have full access to all the library and computer facilities of the University.
Step 1 - The Enrolmet Portal: eVision
Before you leave home, enrol online by logging on the eVision portal to register your personal details and to receive your Enrolment Summary and Enrolment Checklist.
Step 2 - Your Student Identity (ID) Card
Register in person at the University, settle your financial matters and collect your University of Bradford student card
Step 3 - School/Department Induction
Collect your timetable and attend the School/Departmental induction

Step 1 - The Enrolment Portal: eVision
You will receive an email advising you on how to log on to the enrolment portal. Once you have logged on the eVision portal, you will be guided through the online enrolment process step-by-step to update your personal details and confirm your course details.
You will also be asked to submit a digital photograph of yourself which will be printed on your University of Bradford student card.
At the end of this process, you will be asked to print out an Enrolment Summary and an Enrolment Checklist which is customised to your needs.
You will need to bring the summary and checklist with you to the University in step 2 of the Enrolment Process. You don't have to complete the portal in one go, you can always save your updates and return to finish your online enrolment at a later time.
If you do not have internet access, you can complete this step in person when you get to Bradford. However, please note that you may encounter delays in completing your enrolment and therefore receiving your student card. We will also have to take a digital photograph of you at this stage for your student card.
Step 2 - Your Student Identity Card
Each School/Department will have specific times set aside for this step and the next. You will be informed in due course or you can visit the International Student Information Point for the details.
This step takes place in the Great and Small Halls in the Richmond Building. You will have to bring the following documents with you:
- Enrolment Summary signed by yourself
- Your original qualification certificates, for Students on a Visa ensure these are as per your CAS Statement
- Your passport as proof of identity (and any change of name documents - deed poll, marriage certificate, etc)
- Documentary evidence if your fees are sponsored by a company or organisation (original letter on the organisation's headed paper)
- Sufficient funds to pay at least 50% of your tuition fees if your fees are over £4500 if you have not already made a payment. For EU students - documentary evidence that you have applied for a Tuition fee loan from Student Finance England or proof that you have set up a direct debit
- Documentary evidence that you have met any outstanding conditions of your offer.
At the end of this procedure, you will receive your University student ID card. This card identifies you as a student of the University and also electronically confirms your membership of the University of Bradford Students' Union (UBU) and the National Union of Students (NUS).
You will need your student ID card to access University buildings, borrow books from the library and to access the University's computers and other facilities.
This card will last for the duration of your time at the University and bears an expiry date to show the expected completion of your course. If you lose or damage the card, you will be required to pay for a replacement. Details of replacement costs are available from The Hub in the Richmond Building. Stolen cards will be replaced free of charge on production of a police report number.
NB. If you are unable to arrive in time for the International Student Enrolment, please inform your School/Department. We will make arrangements for you to enrol upon your arrival. Please report initially to your School/Department.
Conditional enrolments
There may be occasions whereby we cannot initially complete your enrolment (e.g. if you have not paid the required amount of money, or you have not provided us with an acceptable sponsor letter). In this instance, we will enrol you on a temporary basis called a "conditional enrolment".
What this means is that you will be considered to be a registered student and can use the library, email and blackboard facilities and attend lectures, for a limited period of time. You will not be permitted to take books away from the library during this conditional enrolment period.
If you fail to satisfy the condition(s) within the allocated timescale, access to University facilities may be withdrawn.
Once you have satisfied the condition(s) of your temporary enrolment, you will be issued with your student card, and your registration will be made permanent for the academic year.
Step 3 - School/Departmental Induction
Report to your School/Department at the specified time and follow the induction programme organised by your department to complete the final step of your enrolment. Details will be sent to you and will also be posted on your School/Department's website in the near future.
The Enrolment process for part time and external research students
Some part-time students or students studying or working away from the campus, who are unlikely to visit the University at the beginning of the academic year, may be provided with the on-line Enrolment Portal or required to complete a paper enrolment form and send it to the university by post.
If you need to complete the paper enrolment form, it is most important that you follow the instructions in the covering letter, complete the form and return it by the due date. You will also need to provide a passport photograph for your student card and a copy of your passport. You will only be confirmed and enrolled as a student of the University after we have received and processed your enrolment form.
