Financial Support
Our students come from many different backgrounds, walks of life and countries. With a high proportion of potential students now choosing to live at home and study, the fact that Bradford has students from 110 countries means that you don't need to travel far to experience an exciting and diverse mix of cultures. Our commitment to diversity goes hand in hand with the support we offer to students to allow them to access Higher Education if they want to - regardless of their background or financial situation. If you are studying Higher Education for the first time and you fufil the eligiblity you can apply for funding to support you whilst you study. You can borrow the money to pay your tuition fee whilst you are at University. There is a grant, or a partal grant if your family income is under £50,000, plus a maintenance loan. Details are here on the Direct.Gov website.
Grants, bursaries and scholarships are not repayable, loans are repayable, but in the case of tuition fee loans and maintenance loans repayment starts after you have graduated or left the course. You will be expected to repay once you are earning over £15,000 per annum. This link takes you to information about repayment.
The University offers a bursary which is paid in March and arrives in your bank account marked Student Loan Company.
Your grants and loans are paid into your bank account at the begining of each term. You need to budget the money until the next payment of your funding. There is advice about budgetting in The Really Useful Book which you will have been given when you started University or it is available on line.
If you are studying a second degree you will need to fund the tuition fees and living costs yourself.
