Payment Difficulties
There may be serious consequences if you are in debt to the University. If money is owing at the start of an academic year, you will not be allowed to enrol or re-enrol, which means that you cannot attend classes. If you accrue significant debts during the year, your enrolment may be withdrawn. If you are in debt at the end of your final year, your degree will not be conferred upon you until you have cleared all outstanding monies and no formal confirmation of your results, for example a transcript, will be issued to you. The formal debtors policy can be found on Paying your fees
It is extremely important that you discuss any financial difficulties as soon as they arise and before it becomes necessary for the University to take serious action. If, for whatever reason, you find that you are unable to pay a University bill you should talk to a member of staff in the Hub. The debtor's team (+44(0) 1274 235050) will be able to advise you.
If you have any other type of debt such as:
- Rent
- Council tax
- Utility bills (gas, electricity and water)
- Overdrafts
- Credit cards/store cards
Pop in and see the money doctors (ask at the Hub or ring +44 (0) 1274 236504, 236505, 236506 or 236507), they will offer support, budgeting advise and they will even open your bill for you if you cannot face it.
