Discipline and Grievance

The discipline and Grievance Rules and Procedures are set out in the Discipline and Grievance section of Terms and Conditions of Employment (Staff Handbook).

Discipline

Staff on Grades 1-9 (excluding academic staff) - the procedure has been adapted from the ACAS guidance on disciplinary action at work and is designed to help and encourage all employees to achieve and maintain standards of conduct, attendance and job performance. The aim is to ensure consistent and fair treatment for staff employed at the University of Bradford.

Staff on Grade 10, All Academic Staff and Senior Staff - the disciplinary procedures for academic staff and those non-academic staff on grade 10 and above are set out in Statute 29, a copy of which was referred to and included in the letter of appointment and the statement of main terms and conditions of employment and is also linked below.

Grievance

The Grievance Procedure (updated February 2010) will apply to grievances by members of staff in relation to matters affecting them personally as individuals.  A grievance is a problem or concern that an employee has about their work, working conditions or relationships with colleagues. The following procedure applies to all grades of staff.
