Adoption Leave

The University Adoption Policy outlines entitlement to adoption leave and adoption pay and explains how staff benefits will be affected.  It also contains useful additional information.  To quality for adoption leave, staff must:

  • have been matched with a child to be placed with them by a UK adoption agency;
  • have notified the agency that they agree that the child should be placed with them and agree the date of placement;
  • have been continuously employed by the same employer for at least 26 weeks ending with the week in which they are notified of having been matched with the child;
  • notify their employer of when they want to take their adoption leave no more than seven days after they are notified that they have been matched with a child.

From 1 October 2010 requests and authorisation of Adoption Leave will be via  Myview.
