Dependants Leave

The University may grant time off at short notice to deal with unexpected emergencies involving a dependant.

From 1 October 2010, the request and authorisation of Dependants Leave will be via the Other Absence module of Myview.

A dependant is defined as the following:-

  • The husband/wife /partner, child or parent of an employee or someone who lives in the same household as the employee but does not include tenants or borders living in the same house as the employee.
  • In cases of illness, injury or where there are problems with care arrangements, a dependant may be someone who relies on a member of staff for assistance because they are the main carer or the only person who can assist in an emergency.
