The processes, procedures and documentation to be followed in the case of managing staff reductions are set out in detail on the Managing Staff Reductions Process and Procedures page.
From 5 July 2010 the University is inviting applications through the Voluntary Severance Scheme (VSS). All staff who may be interested in taking Voluntary Severance should discuss their interest with their Line Manager in the first instance.
Line Managers can request their staff member's Voluntary Severance quote information by submitting the e-form below. Please allow five working days for a response from Human Resources; quotes will only be processed if they are requested by the Line Manager via the e-form.
The Dean/Director will only approve the Voluntary Severance application if it can be demonstrated that it is in the managerial interest. An application under the VSS can only be supported when there are clear financial savings and this will mean no direct replacement for the post.
The closing date for applications under the Voluntary Severance Scheme is Friday 17 September 2010.
The Enquiry Form at the bottom of this page is to be completed by the Line Manager.
The University has arranged for independent guidance, advice and support to be provided to any staff within the University who are considering whether or not to apply for Voluntary Severance under the Managing Staff Reductions Procedure which is currently in operation.
People-Factors are a Yorkshire Based consultancy company and specialise in providing support to people to help them to make decisions such as those involved in the Managing Staff Reductions Procedure. People-Factors are entirely independent of the University, and all discussions are absolutely confidential and do not commit to any action being taken. The University will finance the meetings so there will be no cost to you. The University has arranged for 2 group Pre-decision workshops to be held on the following dates:
