Dennis Bellamy and Revis Barber were at different periods Chairmen of the Board of Governors of Bradford Institute of Technology, and thus played important roles in the development of the University of Bradford.
Alderman Revis Barber (1895-1965) was a conscientious objector in World War I and an active trade unionist. He supported and led the dream of a University for Bradford for many years. In 1965, Alderman Barber signed the Petition to the Queen to create a Royal Charter, thereby establishing the University; he died very soon after.
Dennis Bellamy (1894-1964) used the expertise he built during a long career in the electricity industry to help the Institute govern its affairs and move towards university status.
These papers are photocopies of biographical works written or collected by Joyce Bellamy, daughter of Dennis.
