The Bradford Dyers' Association Archive

The Association

The Bradford Dyers' Association Ltd was a combination of Bradford commission dyeing firms. It was founded in 1898, and grew large and successful, dominating the industry in the area. In 1964 the Association was taken over by the Viyella Group.

The Archive

This small collection of papers was gathered by Mr James Ewing (1884-1975). He was Joint Managing Director of The Bradford Dyers' Association Ltd. from 1946-1958 and Chairman from 1946 to his retirement in 1962. His daughter, Mrs R. Willis, presented the papers to the J.B. Priestley Library in 1993.

Further information about the Archive is available as a collection-level entry on the Library catalogue. For more details or to use the Archive, please contact the Special Collections staff.
