Papers of Sir Isaac Holden (1807-1897) and Family, West Riding wool combers

Sir Isaac Holden (1807-1897) was an important Bradford wool manufacturer, who also built wool combing mills in France. He later developed an interest in politics, and was Liberal MP for Knaresborough from 1865-68. In 1971 the University Library, now the J.B. Priestley Library, was given a collection of personal correspondence and papers relating to Holden and his family. These materials, which date from the 1840s to the 1890s, offer considerable insights for researchers into social themes, politics and the technical aspects of the wool industry.
