Undertook a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Instituut voor Prae- en Proto-Historie at the University of Amsterdam on the diatom analysis of Prehistoric Ceramics.
Taught Prehistory at the University of Leicester before joining the Clwyd-Powys Archaeological Trust as Project Officer and later head of contracts section.
Joined English Heritage’s Centre for Archaeology in 1998 as Archaeologist responsible for Prehistory.
Joined the University of Bradford in 2001.
Current research includes Neolithic and Bronze Age ceramics and the technology of prehistoric ceramics.
Currently working on a large Beaker domestic assemblage from Suffolk. Radiocarbon dating of middle Neolithic artefacts and burials and in particular the Neolithic burial mounds of east Yorkshire.
Research into the sequence and origins of middle and later Neolithic ritual monuments.
