| A | You will need to take a test - lasting 45 minutes - for each of the seven modules. You will also need to spend time learning the topics you are not familiar with - either by attending training sessions, or by independent learning. |

| A | If you feel you are competent you will not need any training. However you will be asked to sit a 'diagnostic' test to check that you are ready to take the real one. |
| Q | How does ECDL relate to National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs)? |
| A | Successful completion of some ECDL tests can count as evidence towards some NVQs. |
| Q | How much will it cost? |
| A | If you apply successfully for funding, the cost will be paid for centrally. The cost to you and your department will be your time. |

| A | That depends on how much training you need. You must complete the ECDL within three years of taking your first test. |
