Syllabus 5.0

Syllabus 5 came into force for all candidates starting ECDL after 1 September 2009. This syllabus brings ECDL into line with a National Framework of qualifications - the idea being to make ECDL more flexible and interchangeable with other IT qualifications, e.g. ITQ. For full details of the new syllabus, visit http://www.bcs.org/server.php?show=ConWebDoc.32078

The seven units comprising ECDL fall into two levels, giving a Level 2 qualification overall:

Level 1

Level 2

Syllabus v4.5

This syllabus is being followed by candidates who began the qualification prior to September 2009. The ECDL syllabus is designed to cover the key concepts of computing, its practical applications and their use in the workplace and society in general. It is broken down into seven modules, each of which must be successfully completed before the ECDL certificate is awarded.

The following modules were updated from Syllabus Version 4 to 4.5 on 1 September 2007

The syllabus for the following modules have not been changed from Syllabus 4

Self Evaluation Form

The syllabus has been broken down into a tick-sheet in a Self Evaluation Form (Word format).
This can help you decide how much you know already, an how much time you will need.
