All prospective candidates need to attend the Awareness session or arrange a meeting with a member of the assessment team to discuss the NVQ programme and make sure that the qualification will meet their needs.
Prospective candidates will also need to discuss with their Appraiser whether the NVQ meets their appraisal objectives and check that their Line Manager will agree to allow time out to attend the NVQ workshops (at least one half day a month). Assessor and Verifier candidates will also need to attend the NVQ workshops.
To apply for registration and funding, please print and complete the NVQ Application Form (pdf). Once completed, this form will need to be signed by your Appraiser and Head of Department then returned to the IT NVQ Co-ordinator, Learner Support Services.
You will need to attend at least one half-day workshop per month for training and support with your NVQ.
When you start working towards your NVQ, you will discuss and agree with an assessor the nature, quality and quantity of the evidence required. You will then be responsible for collecting the necessary evidence in the workplace, or through APL/APA (Accreditation of Prior Learning/Accreditation of Prior Achievement) which recognises existing skills and knowledge.
You will need to provide a portfolio of your evidence to "prove" that you can meet the criteria within each unit of the NVQ. Candidates are encouraged to produce a webfolio using PebblePAD (the University's eporfolio tool).
