Alumni ambassador role profile

The role played by our alumni in raising and maintaining brand awareness of the School both in the UK and overseas is very important and we are looking to increase this further through the recruitment of Bradford University, School of Management Alumni Ambassadors.

Working alongside the School's recruitment, admissions and alumni offices, Alumni Ambassadors will become a key point of contact for the School, acting in an advisory capacity and raising brand awareness of the school at a local level.

Ambassadors fulfill an invaluable role by offering information advice and guidance and by promoting social and professional networks in their region. The role of an alumni Ambassador is very demanding and requires a significant level of commitment. The duration of an individual's ambassador role can be assessed on an individual basis but will be for a minimum term of one year and preferably longer. It is therefore advisable to carefully consider the commitment you are able to make before applying.

Ambassadors will be provided with a University e-mail address and will be granted access to School of Management branding and literature where necessary. Certain expenses will be reimbursed providing they have been agreed upon, in advance, on an individual basis.

Applications are invited from all School of Management alumni.

Key duties and activities (international Ambassadors)

  • To act as a point of liaison for visiting staff, students and alumni from the University of Bradford, School of Management, or those who are relocating.

    • Provide advice for specific concerns relating to culture, geography etc and offer help on accommodation, local contacts and suppliers.

  • To act as a point of contact for prospective students and their families

    • Offering a direct and informal source of information and practical advice about Bradford University School of management and life as a student in the UK.

    • Answer questions and provide reassurance to students who are waiting to take up their place at Bradford.

  • To act as a point of contact for external agencies such as British Council

    • Offering local support and acting on behalf of the University when requested, liaising with agencies, attending events and participating in British Council alumni activities.

  • Organise regular informal gatherings and offer support and advice in the formation of any reunions or associations.

    • Support appropriate marketing and promotional initiatives in conjunction with the Alumni Office and offer advice on venues and suppliers for all events, either initiated by the University or local alumni.

  • To act as a point of information regarding all alumni and recruitment activities

    • Being contactable through the designated e-mail address and responding to all queries in a timely manner.

    • Ensure that the University is made aware of any news or developments and contributing activity reports, photographs and alumni news within the publication deadlines set by the School.

  • Assist at oversees Recruitment Fairs and Education exhibitions delivered by the School of Management and University recruitment offices

    • Assist School of management staff on school stand

    • Assist with the delivery of talks and interviews.

    • Help with any translation difficulties and share your knowledge of the cultural differences.

  • Careers Advice

    • To act as a point of contact for information and advice on your career field.

    • To organise and deliver networking events for alumni in your region around your career field.

    • You may like to invite students for work-shadowing days, placements or paid work during vacation. To serve as a referee for students/other alumni where possible.

    • To promote and act as a contact point for possible job positions at the company.

  • Organise events and create networking opportunities in your home country

    • To organise social and professional networking events

    • To act as a contact and information point for university staff and alumni in your region in the build/follow up of networking events

More specific duties may be required and can be discussed on an individual basis with the Alumni and Recruitment offices.

    • To act as a contact and information point for university staff and alumni in your region in the build/follow up of networking events.

More specific duties may be required and can be discussed on an individual basis with the Alumni and Recruitment offices

Note

Although the above responsibilities cover a wide range we would like to make clear that these have been listed to cover all possible activity ambassadors may be involved in. We appreciate that alumni have other full-time commitments and so ambassadors would not be obliged to conduct each and every activity.

Code of Conduct (Responsibilities of the Ambassadors)

  • To demonstrate professionalism and a level of service consistent with the image of Bradford University School of Management and act to positively promote this image/brand at all times.

  • To allow the School to give the ambassador e-mail address to potential applicants as well as publishing this on the web site to the wider alumni and student community.

  • To ensure at all times that the alumni e-mail account is used with discretion and as properly intended. To also ensure that the username and passwords are not disclosed to any third party and that any compulsory password changes are implemented upon request.

  • To allow the School/University to monitor, track and manage the emails sent to and from the ambassador account.

  • To not make promises, representations, warranties or guarantees with reference to the courses except those that are consistent with the University's standard literature as provided to the Alumni Ambassador, or without express written authorisation.

  • To not bring Bradford University School of Management, its staff, students or courses into disrepute.

  • To send a monthly list of prospective student enquirers to the Alumni and Recruitment offices.

  • To provide the Alumni office with any updated contact details for its alumni, including address, e-mail and employment information.

Responsibilities of the School of Management, Bradford University

  • To provide a designated staff member of Bradford University School of Management with whom the Alumni Ambassador will be able to liaise in order to perform the obligations of the role.

  • To provide each Alumni Ambassador with a brad.ac.uk e-mail account and business card.

  • To supply the Alumni Ambassador with training, ongoing support and materials which may assist the Alumni Ambassador to provide the activities as listed above.

  • To reimburse any modest expenses incurred by the role (e.g. travel, stationery, phone calls) as previously agreed by the School.

  • To ensure that all publications and report deadlines are communicated in a timely manner.

Confidentiality

Neither party shall disclose or make use of any confidential information relating to the other party or any third party.

Both parties undertake to comply with relevant country laws pertaining to data protection.

Note

This agreement may be terminated if either the Alumni Ambassador or the University breaches the above terms or if either party gives four week's notice.
