Knowledge Transfer Networks

Every semester the school invites guest speakers to present on a range of topics. Some of the speakers are alumni, who are happy to return to the school to share their experiences, and others will be experts in a particular field who will provide detailed understanding of a specific area.

All current students on the MBA, MSc and undergraduate degrees are welcome to attend and we also invite alumni and other partners.

As well as being highly informative, these lectures offer a fantastic networking opportunity so we would recommend that you attend as many of these presentations as you can.

Coffee and registration is from 5.30pm for a 6.00pm start. The session is then followed by a networking buffet.

For further information please contact please contact Elaine Dean Business Coordinator, E.Dean1@bradford.ac.uk, 01274, 234329.

Hiring and firing: Myth and reality, daft and serious questions

Employers, especially small businesses are often concerned about the rules and regulations around hiring new staff or firing staff with whom they no longer wish to work. The concern is justified because the implications for getting it wrong can be severe. In addition there are a whole host of myths and dos and don’ts which often do not accurately reflect the legal position or best practice. This event aims to cut through those myths and explain in the steps employers should take at the beginning and end of any employment relationship to safeguard the business interests and be fair to the employee concerned.
