BCIB for businesses
The members of BCIB have provided consultancy and advisory services to a variety of small, medium and large companies, as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations, such as the British-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce, International Chamber, UKTI Yorkshire and Humberside region, UNCTAD, and Trade Unions Congress.
The Centre has regional expertise on international business issues in
- China, South East Asia and India, and
- European countries, including Russia.
Expertise is also be available on areas such as -
- Managing and investing in emerging economies
- Technology transfer within multinational corporations
- Corporate social responsibility and sustainable development in multinational corporations
- International retailing, especially in Asian countries
- Management of foreign owned subsidiaries, including employee relations systems
- The role of EU Policies for businesses
LINKS to Business Support Agencies
Mark Robson the International Trade Director for UK Trade and Investment in Yorkshire and The Humber is currently working with BCIB to enhance links between researchers in International Business and the business community. BCIB in collaboration with UKTI provided Master Classes for senior executives involved in international Business in 2012 in the following areas:
- Developing and implementing international strategies
- Effective business with emerging economies
- Managing across cultures
BCIB, in conjunction with UKTI are providing a workshop 'Global Opportunities for Entrepreneurs at Venturefest Yorkshire' in February 2012.
BCIB is working closely with Chamber International http://www.chamber-international.co.uk/about_us/ to provide help to firms in the north of England on exporting.
A seminar on exporting to Algeria and the Maghreb was provided by BCIB and Chamber International on 8 March 2011 and seminar BCIB will contribute to a seminar on exporting to Russia in March 2012.
Further seminars including one of exporting to sub-Saharan countries and on exporting services will be held in the spring of 2012.
