Studying for a PhD at the Bradford Centre in International Business (BCIB)
Our PhD programme allows you to conduct research under the supervision of our international, experienced, and highly committed faculty. We pride ourselves in providing very personal supervision arrangement based on integration into the world-class research in International Business undertaken at the BCIB. In addition to being supervised by two well established researchers, you will take part in regular research seminars to discuss your research with fellow PhD students and members of faculty. During their period of study we encourage you to prepare and submit papers to academic conferences and journals. This provides you with feedback from the national and international research communities in International Business and helps you in developing your skills in writing academic papers.
In many cases PhD students are able to engage in teaching activities allowing them to gain valuable experience of higher education teaching. Our PhD programme usually lasts 3-years. During the first year doctoral students participate in research training which provides them with the knowledge and skills to design and carry out rigorous research.
A PhD from Bradford provides an ideal entry into the world of academia by equipping you with a solid foundation for becoming a scholar in the field of International Business or taking on research related positions in business or governmental organisations.
Currently we are assessing the ways that help can be provided to fund PhD research. Students that have the necessary language and other skills to enable them to teach can normally undertake paid teaching duties. Studentships and other means of financial support are also sometimes available. Details on these schemes can be provided by contacting the people listed below.
Information on the research areas and interests of our faculty can be found on their personal websites, although other research ideas are welcome.
