Opportunity for a practice / mock interview
You can also choose to use a double guidance appointment to experience a mock interview. These are not guidance sessions to discuss interview technique but opportunities to practice what you have learned from the workshops you have attended and other research you may have undertaken. This is a great opportunity to get some feedback on your performance before you meet an employer at interview.
You can choose either of 2 interview formats
Competency based interview
A structured interview which will be based around a range of competencies which employers normally ask for, see link for the competencies you may be asked to give examples of.
General Interview
This interview will be based around your CV. When you book one of these interviews you need to also send a copy of your CV with an indication of the area/function which you want to work within so that the interview can tailor the interview to suit you.
The sessions will last for 45 minutes; the actual interview will take 25 to 30 minutes with 15 to 20 minutes for feedback. It is important that you treat this like a real interview and that you prepare for the interview, arrive on time etc
To book a mock interview
(1) check out the guidance availability schedule, (2) choose what type of interview you would like and a day that suits you, (3) email careers.mgt@bradford.ac.uk with details of your request including the type of interview and the day you would like your interview to take place. Remember: If you are requesting a general interview you must attach your current CV and indicate the area/function you want to work in. You will then be advised of a time slot and asked to confirm attendance.
In order to try and accommodate as many students as possible it will only be possible to book one mock interview at a time.
In semester 2 there will be further opportunities to experience a mock interview with external interviewers.
