The Enterprise and Innovation Lab is an inter-disciplinary environment where researchers explore entrepreneurship and innovation within the institutional and organizational context in which they take place. Our researchers bring to the Lab a unique combination of expertise (coming from disciplines as diverse as economics, sociology, geography, and fields of study including entrepreneurship, innovation, international business, technology management) and research skills (both quantitative and qualitative). Our work is focused around three research themes:
- Knowledge and Technology Transfer and Innovation
- Entrepreneurial Identities in Context
- Social Enterprise and Innovation
Our research is aimed towards addressing the needs of decision-makers in business and public policy. We believe that this can be achieved through a partnership approach with practitioners. Therefore in addition to publishing in international refereed journals and working papers in the Bradford University School of Management working paper series, and presenting at conferences internationally, we are proactive in involving business and policy decision-makers at all stages of our research (from problem inception to dissemination). We participate in regional and national networks of policy support and we co-operate with leading organizations in Yorkshire through our Innovation Club.
Our research feeds into our undergraduate and postgraduate curricula and research supervision. We are continuously expanding our educational offering in the areas of enterprise and innovation: placing particular emphasis on the practical application of knowledge. The Enterprise and Innovation Lab is also the basis of a growing community of doctoral students.
Researchers within the Enterprise and Innovation Lab participate in national and international research networks: we have particularly strong contacts with Universities in United States, France, Germany, Italy, Finland, Greece, Poland, Ukraine, India, China and Australia. As a result, we can leverage complementary expertise and cutting edge practice from elsewhere in the world: placing our findings within a global context.
The Enterprise and Innovation Lab is based at Bradford University School of Management: one of the pioneers of management education in the UK (established in 1964). The School is AMBA and EQUIS accredited and consistently features prominently in the Financial Times ranking of top European Business Schools.
