MBA Scholarships 2014/15

The School of Management offers a number of scholarships to students from anywhere in the world to help with the funding of your tuition fees. Our scholarships for 2014/15 are detailed below. Please note that where candidates are eligible for more than one scholarship they will be offered the one of highest value.

The Bradford Accelerated MBA

MBA Excellence Scholarships. Worth £22,950

APPLY NOW for a Full Fee* scholarship for January 2015 entry.

Two full fee* scholarships, each worth £22,950 are available for self-funding students joining our 10-month fast-track Accelerated MBA programme starting in January 2015.

*You pay just the deposit and we pay the rest of your tuition fees. Worth £22,950.

The scholarships will be awarded to students showing the greatest potential for excellence, in terms of their contribution to the programme, professional profile, career and personal aspirations.

Simply complete your online application for the Bradford Accelerated MBA (January 2015 entry) and within the ‘Personal Statement’ section, explain why you think you should be considered for this scholarship (in up to 500 words).

MBA Merit Scholarships

Merit scholarships of up to £10,000 are available to support high calibre self-funding or part self-funding students for entry to the Full-time and Executive part-time MBA in the UK (September 2014 entry) and the Accelerated MBA in January 2015. Scholarships offers will normally be made during the offer process based on your application for the programme. You do not need to make a separate application for the scholarship, you will be automatically considered for this award. There is no closing date for entry but early applications are encouraged as they are subject to availability (capped scholarship fund).

Alumni Discount

Self funded or part-self funded Bradford alumni applying to study a full-time or part-time (including distance-learning) MBA programme, whether studied in Bradford or at one of our partner institutions, will qualify for a discount on the self-funded element of their fees of:

a. 25% discount for undergraduate alumni with 1st Class honours, or Master's alumni with distinction
b. 20% discount for undergraduate alumni with 2(i) Class honours, or Master's alumni with merit
c. 15% discount for undergraduate alumni with 2(ii) Class honours, or Master's alumni with a pass

Awards for company-sponsored study

A Business relationship bursary of up to 35% on any company-sponsored or part-sponsored Master’s course is available for companies with whom the School has a relationship or demonstrated business engagement. The amount would depend on the strength of the relationship, which might include companies who have previously funded a student on a Bradford programme, employed an undergraduate placement, MSc or MBA student to undertake a project, employed a member of faculty to produce a KTP or research project, commissioned a customised Executive Education programme, or supported the School in other ways, but this list is not exhaustive and other business engagement activities could be considered eligible.

Masters Scholarships 2014/15

The University offers a number of scholarships to help with the funding of your tuition fees. Applicants are normally eligible for a maximum of one scholarship or bursary from the University. Our scholarships for 2014/15 are detailed below. Please note that where candidates are eligible for more than one scholarship they will be offered the one of highest value.

15 scholarships of £1,000 available as a fee reduction to the highest achieving students with at least a first-class Honours in their undergraduate studies, or the European equivalent.

Ma Kam Ming Scholarship Fund

The Ma Kam Ming Scholarship Fund supports up to 4 scholarships for full-time postgraduate study leading to the degree of MSc, at the School of Management, from permanent residents of Hong Kong or citizens of China in 2014/15.

Postgraduate Bursary

UK or EU students applying to study a full-time Masters or research postgraduate programme, who have recently graduated from an undergraduate programme in England, and have received support towards their fees from the Local Authority or the Student Loans Company in their final year of undergraduate study at their previous university may be eligible for a Postgraduate Bursary of £500. Self funded or part-self funded Bradford alumni applying to study a full-time or part-time Master's programme, whether studied in Bradford or at one of our partner institutions, will qualify for a discount on the self-funded element of their fees of:

a. 25% discount for undergraduate alumni with 1st Class honours
b. 20% discount for undergraduate alumni with 2(i) Class honours
c. 15% discount for undergraduate alumni with 2(ii) Class honours

Undergraduate Scholarships 2014/15

The University of Bradford offers a number of specific awards and scholarships to help with the funding of your tuition fees. You may apply to the University for any of these awards or scholarships once you are in receipt of a formal offer of acceptance on a course.

Funding awards are made on the merit of each case. The School of Management retains absolute discretion regarding the amount and number of funding awards. Applicants are normally eligible for a maximum of one scholarship or bursary. 

UK/EU

1. ABB Scholarships

What is on offer?

The University of Bradford is offering cash scholarships worth £3,500 (over the duration of a 3 year degree) to all UK/EU students who achieve ABB or higher in their A Levels (or equivalent). Please visit the University website for full details.

2. EU Grant for Students from Eastern Europe

A grant of £500 per annum is available to Full-time undergraduate students from Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. For full details please visit the university website.

3. National Scholarship Programme 2014/15

What is on offer?

The University of Bradford is participating in the National Scholarship Programme (NSP) and will provide 430 scholarships of £3,000 for 2014.
Students who already hold a degree or who have had some previous study at University level are not eligible for the award.
The programme is designed to help people from low income families, permanently resident in England and classed as a “home” student for funding purposes, and wanting to access Higher Education for the first time. The scholarships are jointly funded by the Government and the University.
The majority of students do not need to make a direct application for a National Scholarship award. You will be automatically assessed as long as you apply for government support through Student Finance England before the advertised deadline.

PhD Scholarships 2014/15

ALL STUDENTS - JANUARY 2015 INTAKE ONLY

Award: £3,996 (equivalent to Home/EU tuition fee)

Award periods: tenable for a maximum of three years subject to satisfactory progress

Number of awards: Up to 4 scholarships per year

Eligibility:

  1. Candidates should have, or expect to achieve, a first or upper second class UK honours degree and a master degree with a minimum average of 60% and the dissertation score above 65%, or equivalent
  2. Candidates whose first language is not English must meet one of the following English language requirements:
    • IELTS: Scores of at least 6.5 or more in each section and an overall score of 7.
    • TOEFL: Scores of at least 600 overall and 5.0 in the Test of Written English
    • TOEFL Internet based: an overall score of 100 with the following minimum scores of Listening 21, Reading 21, Speaking 23, Writing 22.
  3. Awards are open to UK, EU and international applicants who choose to study full-time at Bradford University Management School (Note: International students need to pay the balance of international fee).

Application process:

There is no separate application process. The eligible candidates make a standard PhD application. On the application, the candidates must indicate their interest in being considered for the scholarship and a written statement should be included explaining their suitability for the scholarship.

Application deadline: 17th October 2014

Selection process:

Stage 1: All applications will go through the School’s standard PhD application review process.
Candidates who have successfully secured a position on the PhD programme and are eligible to be considered for a Scholarship will be notified by the PhD office.
Stage 2: The applications will be reviewed and shortlisted by a selection panel appointed by Research and Knowledge Transfer Committee (RKTC).
Stage 3: The candidates going through the second stage will be invited for an interview conducted by the selection panel.
Stage 4: The candidates are informed about the outcome by the PhD office.

Postgraduate Bursary

Students applying to study a full-time Masters or research postgraduate programme, who have recently graduated from an undergraduate programme in England, and have received support towards their fees from the Local Authority or the Student Loans Company in their final year of undergraduate study at their previous university may be eligible for a Postgraduate Bursary of £500. DBA SCHOLARSHIPS (FOR ENTRY IN JUNE 2014 OR JUNE 2015)

Alumni Discount

Self funded or part-self funded Bradford alumni applying to study a DBA programme, whether they studied in Bradford or at one of our partner institutions, will qualify for a discount on the self-funded element of their fees of:

a. 25% discount for undergraduate alumni with 1st Class honours, Master's alumni with distinction, and all MBA
b. 20% discount for undergraduate alumni with 2(i) Class honours or Master's alumni with pass with merit
c. 15% discount for undergraduate alumni with 2(ii) Class honours or Master's alumni with pass

DBA Merit Scholarships

The School is also offering DBA students:

  • 3 part scholarships, amounting to 50% of DBA fees for years 1 and 2 (a total of £12,500), to be awarded on merit to self-funded DBA applicants from World Bank low-income or low to middle income economy countries
  • 1 part scholarship, amounting to 50% of DBA fees for years 1 and 2 (a total of £12,500), to be awarded on merit to DBA applicants from the UK or EU

You may only apply for one of these scholarships after you have received a formal offer of acceptance for the DBA course. To apply for a scholarship, please complete the application form by the closing date of 1st April 2014 to be considered for entry in June 2014, or by 1st April 2015 for entry in June 2015.
