MBA SCHOLARSHIPS 2015/16

The School of Management offers a number of scholarships to MBA students from anywhere in the world to help with the funding of tuition fees.

MBA Merit Scholarships

Worth up to £12,475 (up to 50% of tuition fee).
Merit scholarships worth up to 50% of tuition fees are available to support and encourage high calibre self-funding students for entry to the Full-time and Executive part-time MBA in the UK (September 2015 entry) and the Accelerated MBA in January 2016. Scholarships offers will normally be made during the offer process based on your application for the programme.

For these awards, we focus on rewarding the potential contribution a student brings to the programme and its cohort, evaluating not just academic excellence, but work and personal achievements also.

How to apply: You do not need to make a separate application for the scholarship, you will be automatically considered for this award. Early applications are recommended as these scholarships are assessed and awarded throughout the year and subject to availability.
 

Alumni Discount

Self-funded Bradford alumni applying to study any Bradford MBA programme (full-time, part-time or distance learning) will qualify for a discount on the self-funded element of their fees.
25% discount for undergraduate alumni with 1st Class honours, or Master's alumni with distinction
20% discount for undergraduate alumni with 2(i) Class honours, or Master's alumni with merit
15% discount for undergraduate alumni with 2(ii) Class honours, or Master's alumni with a pass


Company-sponsored study bursaries

A Business relationship bursary of up to 35% is available for companies who have supported or worked with the School who are sponsoring or part-sponsoring an MBA student. The amount will depend on the strength of the relationship, which might include companies who have previously funded a student on a Bradford programme, employed a placement student, facilitated a student project, employed a member of faculty to produce a KTP or research project or commissioned an Executive Education programme. The list is not exhaustive and other business engagement activities could be considered eligible.

Please note that where candidates are eligible for more than one scholarship they will be offered the one of highest value.

MSc SCHOLARSHIPS 2015/16

The University offers a number of scholarships for MSc and LLM students to help with the funding of tuition fees.

Applicants are normally eligible for a maximum of one scholarship or bursary from the University. Where candidates are eligible for more than one scholarship they will be offered the one of highest value.

Merit Scholarships

Worth up to £6,750 (up to 50% of tuition fee).
Merit scholarships worth up to 50% of tuition fees are available to support and encourage high calibre self-funding students for entry to a full-time MSc or LLM programme based at the School of Management and School of Law.

For these awards, we focus on rewarding the potential contribution a student brings to the programme and its cohort, evaluating not just academic excellence, but work and personal achievements also.

How to apply: You do not need to make a separate application for the scholarship. Simply complete the application for your programme of choice and, in the Personal Statement section, clearly state that you would like to be considered for a Merit Scholarship and explain why you feel you should be considered.

Deadline for scholarship entry: Sunday 10th May.


Country specific scholarships

£2000 fee scholarships for students (not EU) who are nationals of countries that are defined by the World Bank as having low-income or low to middle income economies. More details

Academic-related fee scholarships based on your entry qualifications worth £1,500 for UK/EU students and up to £3,500 for International students. Automatically assessed. More details


Scholarships for Chinese students

Ma Kam Ming Scholarship Fund
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for up to 4 Chinese students to receive a full-fee, travel and living expenses scholarship in honour of the Ma Kam Ming family’s generous benefaction. The award is exclusively available to School of Management full-time MSc students only. More details

China full and half fee scholarships
10 Full-fee and 25 half-fee scholarships are available for self-funding Chinese students studying a full-time MSc or LLM course based at Bradford. More details


Global Development Scholarship

Two scholarships (worth approximately £20,000) are available to aid students in financial hardship due to the fact that they are domiciled in a country that is in crisis as a result of the political situation, war, natural disaster etc. More details


Postgraduate Bursary

£500 bursary available for self-funding Home/EU students on a full-time MSc or LLM programme who have recently graduated from an undergraduate programme in England, and have received support towards their fees from the Local Authority or the Student Loans Company. More details

 

Alumni Discount

Undergraduate Scholarships 2014/15

Our scholarships for 2014/15 are detailed below. Scholarships for 2015/16 will be announced soon.

The University of Bradford offers a number of specific awards and scholarships to help with the funding of your tuition fees. You may apply to the University for any of these awards or scholarships once you are in receipt of a formal offer of acceptance on a course.

Funding awards are made on the merit of each case. The School of Management retains absolute discretion regarding the amount and number of funding awards. Applicants are normally eligible for a maximum of one scholarship or bursary. 

UK/EU

1. ABB Scholarships

What is on offer?

The University of Bradford is offering cash scholarships worth £3,500 (over the duration of a 3 year degree) to all UK/EU students who achieve ABB or higher in their A Levels (or equivalent). Please visit the University website for full details.

2. EU Grant for Students from Eastern Europe

A grant of £500 per annum is available to Full-time undergraduate students from Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. For full details please visit the university website.

3. National Scholarship Programme 2014/15

What is on offer?

The University of Bradford is participating in the National Scholarship Programme (NSP) and will provide 430 scholarships of £3,000 for 2014.
Students who already hold a degree or who have had some previous study at University level are not eligible for the award.
The programme is designed to help people from low income families, permanently resident in England and classed as a “home” student for funding purposes, and wanting to access Higher Education for the first time. The scholarships are jointly funded by the Government and the University.
The majority of students do not need to make a direct application for a National Scholarship award. You will be automatically assessed as long as you apply for government support through Student Finance England before the advertised deadline.

Academic Excellence scholarships (International students)
i) China, South Korea and Japan - some full and half fee discounts
ii) All international countries (excluding China, South Korea or Japan) - academic-related fee scholarships worth £2,500 or £3,500, based on entry qualifications
iii) A set number of half-fee Academic Excellence scholarships for highest achieving international students

PhD Scholarships 2014/15

Fully funded PhD studentship opportunity

ALL STUDENTS - JANUARY 2015 INTAKE ONLY

Award: £3,996 (equivalent to Home/EU tuition fee)

Award periods: tenable for a maximum of three years subject to satisfactory progress

Number of awards: Up to 4 scholarships per year

Eligibility:

  1. Candidates should have, or expect to achieve, a first or upper second class UK honours degree and a master degree with a minimum average of 60% and the dissertation score above 65%, or equivalent
  2. Candidates whose first language is not English must meet one of the following English language requirements:
    • IELTS: Scores of at least 6.5 or more in each section and an overall score of 7.
    • TOEFL: Scores of at least 600 overall and 5.0 in the Test of Written English
    • TOEFL Internet based: an overall score of 100 with the following minimum scores of Listening 21, Reading 21, Speaking 23, Writing 22.
  3. Awards are open to UK, EU and international applicants who choose to study full-time at Bradford University Management School (Note: International students need to pay the balance of international fee).

Application process:

There is no separate application process. The eligible candidates make a standard PhD application. On the application, the candidates must indicate their interest in being considered for the scholarship and a written statement should be included explaining their suitability for the scholarship.

Application deadline: 17th October 2014

Selection process:

Stage 1: All applications will go through the School’s standard PhD application review process.
Candidates who have successfully secured a position on the PhD programme and are eligible to be considered for a Scholarship will be notified by the PhD office.
Stage 2: The applications will be reviewed and shortlisted by a selection panel appointed by Research and Knowledge Transfer Committee (RKTC).
Stage 3: The candidates going through the second stage will be invited for an interview conducted by the selection panel.
Stage 4: The candidates are informed about the outcome by the PhD office.

Alumni Discount

Self funded or part-self funded Bradford alumni applying to study a full-time or part-time PhD programme, whether studied in Bradford or at one of our partner institutions, will qualify for a discount on the self-funded element of their fees of:

Postgraduate Bursary

Students applying to study a full-time Masters or research postgraduate programme, who have recently graduated from an undergraduate programme in England, and have received support towards their fees from the Local Authority or the Student Loans Company in their final year of undergraduate study at their previous university may be eligible for a Postgraduate Bursary of £500. DBA SCHOLARSHIPS (FOR ENTRY IN JUNE 2015)

Alumni Discount

Self funded or part-self funded Bradford alumni applying to study a DBA programme, whether they studied in Bradford or at one of our partner institutions, will qualify for a discount on the self-funded element of their fees of:

a. 25% discount for undergraduate alumni with 1st Class honours, Master's alumni with distinction, and all MBA
b. 20% discount for undergraduate alumni with 2(i) Class honours or Master's alumni with pass with merit
c. 15% discount for undergraduate alumni with 2(ii) Class honours or Master's alumni with pass

DBA Merit Scholarships

The School is also offering DBA students:

  • 3 part scholarships, amounting to 50% of DBA fees for years 1 and 2 (a total of £12,500), to be awarded on merit to self-funded DBA applicants from World Bank low-income or low to middle income economy countries
  • 1 part scholarship, amounting to 50% of DBA fees for years 1 and 2 (a total of £12,500), to be awarded on merit to DBA applicants from the UK or EU

You may only apply for one of these scholarships after you have received a formal offer of acceptance for the DBA course. To apply for a scholarship, please complete the application form by the closing date of 1st April 2015.

Funding awards are made on the merit of each case. The School of Management retains absolute discretion regarding the amount and number of funding awards. Applicants are eligible for a maximum of one scholarship, and will be notified before the end of April of the decision.

Awards for company-sponsored study

A Business relationship bursary of up to 35% on any company-sponsored or part-sponsored DBA programme is available for companies with whom the School has a relationship or demonstrated business engagement. The amount would depend on the strength of the relationship, which might include companies who have previously funded a student on a Bradford programme, employed an undergraduate placement, MSc or MBA student to undertake a project, employed a member of faculty to produce a KTP or research project, commissioned a customised Executive Education programme, or supported the School in other ways, but this list is not exhaustive and other business engagement activities could be considered eligible.
