The Strategy, Economics and International Business (SEIB) group research is focused on international business, entrepreneurship and innovation, business economics, corporate social responsibility and sustainability strategies.

Research in international business

Professor Frank McDonald, Dr Martin Owens, Dr Nicolas Papageorgiadis, Dr Chengang Wang and Dr Sarah Dixon are researching issues connected to strategic and operational developments in multinational companies in areas such as subsidiary strategy, multinational strategies in transition economies, international joint ventures, and employee relations in multinational corporations. Research is also being conducted on institutional obstacles to foreign direct investment, the sub-national geographical location of foreign direct investment, and issues in technology transfer and innovation in international business activities, especially in relation to emerging economies.

Research in entrepreneurship and innovation

Professor Christos Kalantaridis is conducting research that explores the interface between entrepreneurship and institutions, the contribution of transnational & migrant entrepreneurs & their strategies, the role of universities in regional innovation systems, and open innovation.

Research in Business Economics

Dr Damian Ward, Dr Abhijit Sharma, Dr Elizabeth Hooper, Dr Jenny Fairbrass and Jean-Marc Trouille are researching in the areas of international economics, industrial economics, the economics of competitiveness, and the economics of regulation and government policy (including EU regulatory and policy issues).
Research in corporate social responsibility and sustainability strategies

Dr Jenny Fairbrass and Dr Anna Zeuva-Owens are researching in areas connected to strategy in sustainability, business ethics, and corporate social responsibility.
