Recruit postgraduates / MBAs for project work?

MBA projects

What is an MBA management project?

The MBA management project represents the major, applied, problem-solving element of the MBA programme and involves practical research. In a company-based project the student tackles an issue or problem of direct concern to the company.

The project is carried out between May and August and the final report of between 12,500 and 15,000 words should be submitted for assessment by the end of September. Students may also be asked to present their findings to the company in a formal presentation.

What are the benefits to you?

  • Excellent value: high-quality consultancy services at low cost
  • Fresh ideas: students bring an unbiased objective view to the organisation
  • Quality service: most MBA students have at least five years of work experience and all are supported by an academic supervisor from the School of Management
  • Future employees: projects can be an excellent source of future employees.
  • Employer Case Study

What does it cost?

We make no charge to undertake the work, but we would expect that most organisations would be happy to pay the student for a piece of high-quality consultancy. The student and the company negotiate all fees. It would also be expected that the company pay all out-of-pocket expenses.#

How does it work?

By mid-January you need to have submitted an outline project proposal. You can do this:

We will then co-ordinate the application process for the recruitment of a suitable student. We can also arrange for you to interview candidates at the School of Management. Once you have selected a suitable student, he or she will meet you to develop the project brief. At this stage the academic supervisor will be involved to provide advice and support on what can be realistically achieved in the timeframe.
