Movement From The Mills (Bryony Pritchard)

Women's Project (age suitability 16+).  We are particularly interested in working with women of South Asian Heritage and women with connections to Gujarat.

During the interactive workshop there will be guided exercises and open-ended tasks that will inspire group and individual pieces of choreography.Curious explorers of all levels are welcome to join a playful dance workshop led by movement artist Bryony Pritchard, creating dances inspired by textile patterns and weaving codes.

These workshops will encourage participants to weave their own movement responses to the shapes and patterns of textile weaves.

No previous movement experience necessary, just a curious mind. Please bring loose comfortable clothing and shoes. Light refreshments provided.

Workshop participants are also invited to take part in a public performance at Threadfest on Saturday 28th May 4pm at Delius Arts Centre; live coded sound and moving graphics inspired by weaving patterns.  This interdisciplinary project is linked to India’s Gateway , an exhibition at Cartwright Hall and Gallery II.  bradfordthreadfest.com www.indiasgateway.org

Bryony Pritchard is an interdisciplinary artist, based in Leeds. Her work embraces movement, installation, visual art and film. Bryony trained in classical ballet in Leicester and developed her creative movement and art practice at Leeds College of Art.  Bryony has been developing community arts and health projects since 2007, engaging participants of all ages and abilities to take part in creative activities. 

Bryony is a creative practitioner and project coordinator with organisations such as Yorkshire Sculpture Park, The Hepworth Wakefield, The Tetley and art charities such as Artlink West Yorkshire and Artworks Bradford.
