Welcome to the Autumn 2008 edition of News & Views

Welcome to the Autumn 2008 edition of News & Views.

The big news story from the last three months, which you may have seen in the press, was the recovery of the body of an Australian soldier from the First World War which was found by one of our students during an excavation of German trenches near St Yves in Wallonia, Belgium.

We also celebrated the opening of the Institute of Cancer Therapeutics during the summer graduation ceremonies, where eight honorary graduates were awarded with degrees.

In this edition of News & Views Professor Des Tobin from the School of Life Sciences shares with readers how Bradford is a prominent participant in the recent explosion of knowledge in the science of skin and hair follicles at both basic and applied research levels.

Research news includes some fascinating stories about work going on around the University. There is also an introduction to Professor Anant Paradkar who started working at the University in September as the Interdisciplinary Chair in Pharmaceutical Engineering.

Knowledge Transfer news looks at a success story about one of our graduates who, with help from ThinkBusiness@Bradford, has successfully started his own business and how Bradford Dementia Group are leading the way in developing a standard in dementia care.

As News & Views goes to press we look forward to the start of a new academic year and all the excitement and expectation it brings.

We hope you enjoy this edition. The Winter edition will be out in January.
