BSc (Hons) in Optometry

We offer a three-year academic programme leading to a BSc (Hons) in Optometry.

For UK registered dispensing opticians and contact lens opticians, we also offer a Career Progression Programme, also leading to a BSc (Hons) in Optometry.

Other Programmes of Study

We run a tailor-made Adaptation Period Programme open to qualified optometrists from certain countries, enabling them to gain registration with the General Optical Council.

For UK optometry graduates who have not met the General Optical Council requirements to enter the pre-registration year, we run a year long Progression to Pre-Registration Period Programme which gives students an further opportunity to meet these requirements.

Postgraduate Study in Optometry and Vision Science

We offer postgraduate supervision on a range of vision research projects that will lead to the award of a PhD. Our research students work in areas that range from the clinical investigation of visual anomalies to studies that aim to develop our understanding of the processing of visual information by the eye and brain.

We do not currently offer any taught postgraduate courses.

Courses for the Profession

We offer tailor-made courses to meet the continuing professional development needs of optometrists.
