We have a dedicated member of academic staff providing support and tutoring to 2nd and 3rd year undergraduates students. We have found that this maximises their chances of securing the training post that they want.
This member of staff is an optometrist who has experience of a variety of different types of optometric practice, as well as being an examiner and assessor for the College of Optometrists. This gives her great insight in to the optometric profession which continues to be a rapidly changing field.
Along with our contacts within the University Career Development Services, we provide students with specific support on the writing of CVs, application letters and interview technique.
We also ensure that students hear the views of clinicians from across the range of optometric practice in the UK, to help them make the best career choice for them.
We believe that this support is an important factor in the high employment rate among our graduates.
