We can offer supervision on a range of vision research projects that will lead to the award of a Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.). Our research students work in areas that range from the clinical investigation of visual anomalies to studies that aim to develop our understanding of the processing of visual information by the eye and brain. If you have a good undergraduate degree in optometry or a vision-related discipline (e.g. psychology, neuroscience, orthoptics), why not consider advancing your knowledge by studying for a Ph.D. with us?
A Ph.D. is a three-year programme of supervised research that incorporates a comprehensive training in how to do research. The research must be original and contribute to knowledge within the field. The title `Doctor' is awarded to those who submit a final thesis of a suitable standard detailing their research work, and are able to adequately defend it in an oral examination. The research must be undertaken independently but under the close direction of your supervisors, who will be experts in your area of study.
