Research Degrees
The Department of Peace Studies offers the following research degree schemes:
- MRes: Masters in Research (Pathways in Peace Studies): a one year taught course culminating in the submission of a short dissertation which equips students to do research in peace studies.
- MPhil: Master of Philosophy: a one year (minimum registration) research degree requiring independent study and the production of a thesis based on original work.
- PhD: Doctor of Philosophy: a three year (minimum registration) research degree incorporating a one year training in research methods, the carrying out of an independent research project and the submission of a thesis showing evidence of original work and thought.
Each of these degree schemes can be pursued on a full-time residential, part-time or external basis, though we give priority to full-time applicants.
The Department welcomes applications from EU and international students as well as from the UK.
