Sarah Perrigo is at present completing an article on `Globalisation, Resistance and Emancipation' for a book on Globalisation to be published next year by Ashgate. She is also completing an article on `Gender and the Discourses of New Labour' and an article on `Gender, Power and Discourses of Human Rights in an era of Globalisation'. She gave a paper on `Gender Mainstreaming and the Discourse of New Labour' to a conference at Bristol University in May of this year and has been participating in an ESRC series of seminars at Warwick and Sheffield Universities on Gender and Global Governance. She submitted a research proposal with Ruth Jacobson on Gender and Ethno Nationalism to the ESRC for funding in the New Securities Programme. Although they were unsuccessful the referees' comments on the proposal were very positive and they are currently seeking alternative funding for this research. Sarah is involved in the new Centre for Participation Studies and is in the process of developing a research project on local democracy, good governance, representation and accountability.
