Postgraduate Study

The Centre for Pharmaceutical Engineering Science offers a number of opportunities for students to engage in post-graduate studies. We welcome applications from students to undertake MPhil, PhD and MSc studies in the following areas:

  • pharmaceutical materials
  • drug delivery systems
  • novel process development
  • reactive extrusion
  • material characterisation
  • Process Analytical Technology (PAT)

We currently have EPSRC Funded PhD Studentship in
"A Novel Continuous Method for Co-crystal Formation"

A fully-funded PhD studentship is available for three years, preferred start date 15 January 2012.

A new approach to the continuous production of co-crystals has been funded by the EPSRC for the development of this technology for the pharmaceutical and fine chemical sectors.  The successful candidate will join an inter-disciplinary team at the University of Bradford consisting of pharmaceutical scientists and polymer process engineers.

The successful applicant will join a lively interdisciplinary research team investigating the underpinning science for structuring pharmaceuticals and optimisation of the process, which will involve international presentation and publication.

The ideal candidate will have a first-class undergraduate degree in Materials Science or Pharmaceutical Sciences. Previous experience in crystallization, pharmaceutical processing and analytical sciences is desirable but not essential.

Appropriate training will be provided within the framework of the University of Bradford's guidelines for the training of PhD students.

The studentship is available from January 2012 for a period of 3 years and includes Home/EU tuition fees, together with a stipend of £13,590 per year.  Due to funding restrictions imposed by the EPSRC only UK or EU students are eligible to apply.

To be eligible for a full award, applicants must have a relevant connection with the UK (usually established by residence). Further details about eligibility are available at

http://www.epsrc.ac.uk/PostgraduateTraining/StudentEligibility.htm .

Please send your CV to Prof. Anant Paradkar ( A.Paradkar1@bradford.ac.uk ) in the first instance.

Closing date: 30 November 2011

It is anticipated that interviews will be held during the first week of December 2011.
