This module aims to examine the goals pursued by international competition authorities in general, critically assess the major aspects of competition law and to conduct a comparative analysis of the regulatory frameworks and to consider their influences on sound and economic market sustainability. This module is an important element of the LLM Technology and Artificial Intelligence Law programme because competition (including mergers and acquisitions) is a significant issue in technology markets; part of the LLM International Banking and Financial Technology Law programme, because completion between traditional banks and fintechs shapes the industry; part of the LLM International Corporate Law and Governance programme because complying with competition rules is essential for the operation of modern corporations; part of the LLM international Commercial Law, due to the significance of competition rules for fair trade and commerce; and part of the LLM International Legal Studies as one of the significant modern areas of legal study that students could explore. This module is also suitable for any other postgraduate programme where knowledge of the competition law can contribute to the achievement of the programme aims.
