The aim of this module is to provide you with a critical understanding of the principles and regulation governing the use, sharing and protection of transboundary freshwater resources. The module will draw upon case studies and experiences in specific regions to illustrate this contemporary challenge. The module is an essential element of the LLM Natural Resources, Environmental Law, and Policy programme due to the critical importance of water resources regulation for advancing environmental sustainability and human development; and part of the LLM International Legal Studies programme as a modern area of legal study with vital policy and practical relevance. This module is also suitable for other postgraduate programmes where knowledge of the principles and regulation of freshwater resources can contribute towards achieving the programme aims.
