How you become a student

There are three processes you need to complete before you are considered a registered student and can start the teaching for your course:-

  1. Pre-Enrolment Portal
  2. Induction
  3. Enrolment

Pre-Enrolment Portal (PEP)

The pre-enrolment portal (PEP) lets you start the enrolment process online a few week before you start at the University.  The PEP contains sections that you need to work through including information about you, your qualifications and the course you want to join.  Don't worry, you don't have to do it all at once and, if you have any problems, there are people who can help you.  Successful completion of the PEP will make things both simpler and quicker when you attend the actual enrolment session.

The PEP will be launched on 4th January 2012 and all new students due to enrol that month will receive an e-mail from us containing a link to start the PEP.  If you can't see the e-mail in your inbox after this date, please check your junk mail folder as it may have been marked as spam.  If you still can't see the e-mail, please ask the Hub staff to re-send it by contacting them at hub@bradford.ac.uk or 01274 232233.

Induction

Induction is how you get to know everything you need know to start your course, important things about the School and the University.  You will have the opportunity to meet both staff and other new students and this is also where you will choose your optional modules and receive your timetable so it is really important that you attend.  Our next induction session will be:-

10am - 4pm on Tuesday 10th January 2012 in the Escalate Suite, F Floor, Richmond Building

There will also be time in the session for you to ask any other questions you may have so it would be a good idea for you to write these down and bring them with you on the day.  Soft drinks will be provided during the breaks but you will need to purchase your own lunch.

Enrolment

Enrolment is the process we use to collect all the legal information we need to register you as a student, make arrangements for the payment of your tuition fees and you agree to follow University regulations.  You must attend the enrolment session we have organised for you which is scheduled for:-

3:30 – 5:30pm Tuesday 17th January 2012 at the Hub, Richmond Building

What you need to bring with you:-

  • Your printed PEP enrolment summary
  • Proof of your identity (normally your passport but if you are a UK citizen you may use your birth certificate instead.  A Driving Licence is NOT acceptable)
  • Proof of your qualifications – you must bring your original certificates
  • Any financial support information - this could be your confirmation of support from Student Finance England (SFE), your PTG1 form if you are a part time students or a sponsorship letter if your employer is paying your tuition fees.

Enrolment Tips

  • The slot given is a start time and is an indication of when you should arrive, not how long the process will take
  • We will enrol you as quickly as we can but you should expect to queue for approximately two hours so bring something to keep yourself entertained, e.g. a book
  • The queue really isn't the best place for children; please make arrangements for childcare on your enrolment day
  • Bring ALL required documentation with you.  We can’t enrol you without proof of your identity (for UK students this means either your passport or birth certificate) and we also need to confirm your qualifications so make sure you have all of these on the day
  • Fast track!  If you have printed out your enrolment summary, added a photo to PEP, brought all required documents and sorted out your student finance your enrolment will be fast tracked
