Access

The University of Bradford has been at the leading edge of social inclusion in higher education for over a decade and is recognised locally, regionally, nationally and internationally as a successful and inclusive University that provides realistic opportunities for all of its students.

The School of Lifelong Education & Development's is the access and gateway School of the University providing a wide range of flexible learning opportunities to cater for a vast array of students. We provide:

  • Foundation Year – a one year access course to enable those with no qualifications to access higher education or for those who did not meet the entry criteria of the degree programme they applied for.
  • Foundation degrees – for those who are in employment and wish to study for a University academic award.
  • English language support – for international students who need to meet the entry requirements for degree programmes in line with UK Border Agency requirements.
  • Validations – for those in employment where the University may accredit an employer’s training provision.
  • Scholarships and bursaries – to enable students to access higher education with reduced fees.

Our other initiatives include working positively to engage with schools, their communities (such as parents, teachers, and local groups) and students to support them to participate and succeed whatever their ambitions at University.
