Metro Card Discounts

Metro The University operates a scheme for staff to purchase MetroCards at a 15% discount off the normal cost of an annual MetroCard.

Metro have agreed this discount with the University in recognition of our efforts to promote sustainable travel choices and our commitment to developing and maintaining a travel plan.

A Metro railzones map can be accessed via www.wymetro.com (external link, will open in a new window)

The scheme involves the University purchasing the Annual MetroCards on a bulk basis and recovering the cost from participants by equal deductions from their salary/wage spread over the year.

What if I leave the University?

In the event of you leaving the University's employment, the balance due will be deducted from your outstanding salary/wage with partial refunds for unexpired periods obtainable from Metro.

It should be noted that the refund will be less than the direct proportion of the original cost for the period remaining. The cost for the used period is recalculated on the basis of the cost of quarterly, monthly and weekly tickets and the resultant balance refunded.
