Call for Papers

ISSMO has held its World Congresses of Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization every second year since 1995: WCSMO-1 was held in Goslar, Germany, 1995, WCSMO-2 in Zakopane, Poland, 1997, and WCSMO-3 in Buffalo, NY, USA, 1999. WCSMO-4 will be held June 4-8, 2001 in Dalian, China. At the meeting, researchers and practitioners will discuss and overview the strong activity, new advances, and the increasing importance of the field of structural optimization, including multidisciplinary aspects.

The official language of the Congress is English.

Contributions are invited from all fields of structural and multidisciplinary optimization. Papers on theories, methods, algorithms, and applications related to structural and multidisciplinary optimization are all welcome.

Participants who wish to present a paper must submit an Abstract electronically directly to the Chairman of the International Papers Committee (Prof. M.P. Bends?e) to arrive not later than December 15, 2000. The document file (in pdf, ps, ASCII text, or WORD file format) of the Abstract must be sent by e-mail to Prof. M.P. Bends?e at the address WCSMO4paper@mat.dtu.dk

The length of Abstracts is to be 500-600 words, with double spacing. Abstracts must contain the full name, affiliation, postal and e-mail addresses of the corresponding author. Each Abstract should clearly describe the current status of the work and should unambiguously distinguish between original results already on hand and those expected. It should not contain figures or extensive references.

The final selection of papers for presentation will be made by the International Papers Committee. Notification of acceptance will be sent to the corresponding authors via e-mail by February 15, 2001. For inclusion in Lecture Notes to be handed out at the Congress, Short Papers (two pages maximum, acceptable formats will be announced later) must be received by April 5, 2001 by the Congress Secretary in Dalian (see the address given below). Full Papers (six pages maximum) written in intelligible English will be published in the Proceedings if submitted during the Congress in Dalian. Depending on the number of accepted papers, some contributions may be presented in poster sessions.
