Accommodation

Whether you are coming from the other side of the world or just down the road, you'll be able to find a warm and comfortable place to sleep, study or just relax in Bradford.

Undergraduate students who follow the correct procedure and submit their application for accommodation to us before 5th September are guaranteed a place in Halls in their first year. As most of the well-equipped Halls are on the main campus or a short five-minute walk away you are never far from your lectures, library, sports and recreation facilities. You may not even need to leave your room to study as most rooms even have free Broadband access.

The University has over 300 places in self-catering accommodation reserved solely for postgraduate students on or close to the main campus, which is just a short walk from the thriving city centre.

International students who have completed the application process and accepted a place at the University are guaranteed a place in Halls in their first year, so you can leave home relaxed in the knowledge that you are going to have your own private room close to plenty of interesting and like-minded people from around the globe.

The University has a combination of directly owned and managed Halls and Halls that they nominate allocations to, so you're sure to find something that suits your needs. The directly owned and managed Halls are located on main campus and at the School of Management; nominated Halls are those at Laisteridge Lane and Wardley House. All applications for Halls are administered through the University Accommodation Office.

Private accommodation

Compared to most university towns and cities in the UK, privately rented accommodation in Bradford is inexpensive and there are plenty of houses for friends to rent together close to the campus. The average rent for a room in a student house is £40 per week with additional utility charges (prices correct as at September 2007).

If you would prefer to live in privately rented accommodation, then you should contact Unipol (www.unipol.bradford.ac.uk/). The staff offer a free service to students looking to rent private accommodation and it is a good way of finding a place to live at a reasonable cost. The agency has helped more than 18,000 students a year find private rented accommodation in Leeds and Bradford and has played an important role in increasing standards with its own code of practice.

Our students say . . .

"I lived in Halls during my first year, which was lovely - I'm friends with the same group of people now and you definitely forge relationships for life."

Rebecca Slater - Archaeological Sciences

There is always loads to do on and off campus. The Students' Union offers a wide range of services, but one of their main functions is to make sure you have a good time while you are not studying.
