Libraries

The J B Priestley Library is named after Bradford's illustrious writer.

The J B Priestley library has:
  • An almost unimaginable 530,000 volumes
  • Over 1,100 printed periodical titles
  • Over 7,000 electronic journals.

It sits in the heart of the main campus with a calm and focused atmosphere that is like a second home to many students. If you live on campus the J B Priestley Library in Student Central is almost literally on your doorstep.

It is open 24 hours per day between Monday and Friday during term, and offers a full range of self-service facilities, including book issue, renewal and return.

The Library provides computer-based information services and PCs, together with teaching rooms and rooms for group study. There is also a dedicated
subject library at the School of Management and your department will have its own specialist academic/technical facilities to support your study.

The library system is accessible from a PC or workstation connected to the Internet 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. This means that you can conduct
research, make reservations and renewals (alternatively you can use our automated telephone renewals system) and look at information databases on a
range of subjects whenever you choose.

There are also
  • Newspapers
  • Reports
  • Government publications
  • Documents from the European Union
  • A wide range of Special Collections

With so much information available you'll find our specialist librarians an invaluable source of help for specific advice and guidance on your particular subject.

Buy your own books

We also have two Waterstone's bookshops on campus, one on the main campus and another at the School of Management. Both shops stock essential and recommended texts as specified by your course lecturers plus paperbacks, general interest books, stationery, gifts and cards.
