Coaching and Mentoring (module - 20 credits)

Introduction

This tailored course is ideal for anyone who works in the voluntary, education, business and public sectors. The programme has been developed with both employers and employees in mind.

You will benefit from improved communications skills and a cooperative and empowering leadership style. For those being coached it is an opportunity to develop and improve skills and enable you to settle into new or changed roles quickly and effectively.

On successful completion of the programme you will gain a Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring Management awarded by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). You will also gain 20 credits at Level One (which can be used towards a degree).

Aims

The course aims to provide an understanding of how coaching and mentoring can support individual growth and development and to develop the skills needed to perform effectively as a coach/mentor.

On successful completion of the Coaching and Mentoring programme you will have developed the skills and abilities to make you an effective coach and mentor as well as having developed the skills to set up and run coaching and mentoring schemes.

  • The role of mentors and coaches
  • The responsibilities of mentees
  • The skills involved in mentoring and coaching
  • Stages of coaching and mentoring relationships
  • Cross-gender and cross-cultural mentoring and coaching
  • Problems in mentoring
  • Setting up and evaluating mentoring and coaching

Delivery

The intention is to offer minimal disruption and maximum impact to the workplace. Delivery is organised in an intensive 3-day period of study. This is then followed by an online study programme.

Progression

You will gain 20 level 1 university credits which can be used towards a degree course. Please note that ILM level 5 (Qualifications Credit Framework) is equal to University of Bradford credit level 1 (degree entry stage 1 credit) but on a seperate grading structure. We have a wide range of flexible undergraduate degree programmes to suit your circumstances and needs, and most can be studied part-time. 

Fees

£500.00 -  £150 per 10 credit module plus the registration fee for the ILM.

You will be admitted on the basis of your ability to benefit from the course of study.
