From Wednesday 18th January 2017 Displace Yourself Theatre will be offering free sessions on the third Wednesday of every Month, bringing people together to develop new practical skills and to see how creativity can improve wellbeing.
Whatever your culture, background or previous experience in the arts, Create and Collaborate welcomes all. Sessions are open to anyone who would benefit from a boost in confidence, exploring their creative potential and those who have an interest in working towards a more inclusive society. If English is not your first language, don’t worry, we will support you. These sessions will be particularly relevant to:
- People who have experienced, or are at risk of, homelessness
- Refugees and asylum seekers
- People with mental health support needs
The sessions will focus on a new creative practice each month, while building ongoing skills. We will meet at 10am till 3pm at Theatre in the Mill with regular breaks throughout the day including enjoying a meal together. (Free lunch and refreshments provided every month).
The creative sessions will be guided by Jen and Mike (Co-Artistic Directors of Displace Yourself). With over ten years experience in the arts, they will offer professional training in a wide variety of specialised skills including acting, singing and movement- all designed to improve self-esteem and meet new people in a fun, safe and therapeutic environment.
