Tuesday 26th February - Saturday 9th March
Showings Tuesday - Saturday at 2pm and 6pm
At a residential house in BD2.
Have you ever had to leave somewhere in a hurry? Had the courage to leave, pack your bags, dance down the side of the building or leave with nothing, not even the
shoes on your feet?
A site-specific performance about domestic abuse staged in a residential house. Our Glass House involves moments of fantasy, choreography and song, and is a promenade piece, encouraging audience to experience the intimacy of the family home and make their own journeys. The performance text is based on interviews we have carried out with men and women who have experienced domestic violence. There are no perpetrators in the show; we explore why people stay and how they leave.
For the making of this show we have collaborated with an illusionist, a sound artist, illustrators, riggers and carpenters to transform a disused house into a world for you to explore. Each show will be followed by a post-show discussion that will aim to unpack the issues raised. This show has been staged with the support of Bradford Council, Arts Council England and Theatre in the Mill.
'I am fascinated by work that puts its audiences at the centre of the action and Our Glass House does just that, it is as powerful as your imagination, as gut-wrenching as your empathy, it lives because you do. I’m delighted to welcome home Bradford-raised artist Evie Manning, a creative lead on the show. We are confident you are going to see a whole lot more of her in the future'.
