Funded by the Higher Education Active Community Fund (HEACF) scheme, UCAN is the University and Students' Union initiative to develop links between University students and the wider community. Volunteers from any academic discipline are supported, with an emphasis on working in partnership with not-for-profit organisations and in disadvantaged areas. UCAN has a range of volunteering opportunities in the Bradford area for students to undertake, and encourages students to develop their own volunteering projects within UCAN.

Example projects include: Switch off and recycling campaigns, making go-carts out of scrap, volunteering in schools to help improve their environment, setting up or joining a sport or society, growing veg on campus, helping out in hospitals and much, much more!
